Assign a Custom Field Value to a Content Template

With the use of macros in the new, update and resolved content templates, would it be possible to set a Custom Field Value for specific Content Templates (similar to the ability to set components or groups) that would allow for the specific Custom Field to be auto-populated in the Options Tab when creating a New Incident? This would allow for any macros used in the update or resolved posts to pull that custom field value into the macros.
